Tips for Defeating Writer’s Block

Hello, fellow writing people! I hope you are not stuck, but if you are, I hope this list helps. I believe in you!

  1. Remember why you’re a writer. If every word feels like wading through an endless abyss of sludge, remind yourself why you love writing. Try writing a scene you’re looking forward to, writing something fun that won’t make it in but that you enjoy, adding a fun diversion from your current scene, or making a list of everything you like about your WIP. Remember that your story is a beacon of hope in this fallen world, and you shall not be defeated by writer’s block!!!
  2. Remember to read. ????
  3. Reread what you’ve written. ????
  4. Switch POVs or make something unexpected happen. ????
  5. Write an overly emotional scene, or something random and fun. ????
  6. Make aesthetic boards and playlists. ✨
  7. ???? Here’s a potato. Write about it! Bonus: ???????????????????????????? ????????????
  8. Tell your writer’s block that you refuse to succumb to its will. ????
  9. Freewrite anything, anything at all. ✍️
  10. Take a break and spend some time in real life. ????
  11. Keep writing. Even if it’s only a word at a time, progress is progress. It may take much difficulty and change, but you can do it! ???? “You fail only if you stop writing.” — Ray Bradbury
